Welcome!

Be a part of something unique!

Enjoy the breadth and depth of learning math in an interdisciplinary way.

Over the course of one school year, this class will study three overarching units to include:

  • Plane and Solid Geometry
  • Coordinate Geometry
  • Trigonometry and Applications

Geometry understanding is a weak point in modern education, and a key component of solving this issue is giving students an opportunity to understand it from multiple perspectives. Additionally, cutting out the "middle man" of waiting until Algebra II to see how geometry concepts get reinforced allows for students to get the full picture sooner and build a global math concept before they forget what they learned previously.

Specific topics we'll cover include:

  • Inductive and deductive logic
  • Rectilinear figures (lines, polygons, perimeter and area) with geometry and algebra
  • Volume and surface area
  • Similarity and congruence
  • Geometric probability
  • Conic sections
  • Study of function families (polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic)
  • Right triangle trigonometry

... and much more!

Special Features of the class include...

  • Socratic seminars based in Euclidean geometry
  • Guided creative problem solving using MATHCOUNTS inspired activities
  • Mimics concurrent enrollment in Geometry and Algebra II (a course of study recognized by MSBSD)

Pricing:

$1800/semester - This is a year long course.

The real satisfaction from mathematics is in learning from others and sharing with others. All of us have clear understanding of a few things and a murky concepts of many more. ”
